Before the mercury thermometer was invented, people used the back of their hands to measure their body temperature. This method of measuring body temperature was not accurate. Everyone's perception of body temperature is different, some people are sensitive to temperature, and some people are not sensitive to temperature. After the mercury thermometer comes out, it is more accurate to measure body temperature than human body temperature. The electronic thermometer can accurately measure the temperature by the temperature sensor: thermistor. A thermistor is a semiconductor resistor made of semiconductor material that is sensitive to temperature and whose resistance value changes with temperature. According to different temperature coefficients, it is generally divided into PTC thermistor and NTC thermistor.
NTC thermistor is used in the electronic thermometer. NTC thermistor is a negative temperature coefficient thermistor whose resistance value decreases with the increase of temperature. NTC thermistors have these advantages: small size; low price, able to be manufactured in large quantities; fast response speed; high precision accuracy, so they are widely used in medical equipment. The electronic thermometer is designed using the characteristics of NTC thermistors that are sensitive to temperature and have a temperature accuracy of 0.1°C.
In addition to being used in medical equipment such as electronic thermometers, NTC thermistors are also used in temperature measurement in granary thermometers, food storage scientific farming, oceans, deep wells, glaciers, etc. NTC thermistors have many advantages and great market demand. When choosing thermistors, you need to pay attention to distinguishing them to avoid inferior thermistors.
