In addition, the dash camera can be connected to the direct power supply to be used as parking monitoring, and can also be used to record the scenery along the way. It is a multi-purpose electronic product. Therefore, the normal work of the car dash camera is very important.
The dash camera needs power to work, and there are two sources of power needed: one is from the car itself, and the power is supplied through the standard cigarette lighter interface of the vehicle. The other comes from backup power, which is used to keep the device working after the cigarette lighter's power is turned off. There are two types of energy storage devices used as backup power: batteries and supercapacitors. Most dash cameras use batteries as backup power.
However, there is a disadvantage of using a battery as a backup power source for the dash camera: it is not resistant to high temperatures. The operating temperature range of the battery is narrow, and the performance of the battery will decrease when it is too cold or too hot, and the time will drop sharply, and the battery may explode and catch fire at high temperature. The battery needs to be replaced every year.
Supercapacitors have high power density, fast charging and discharging speed, stable performance, green environmental protection, low loss and can be used for a long time.
Moreover, the operating temperature range of supercapacitors is -40°C to +70°C, and the operating temperature range of commercial supercapacitors can reach -40°C to +80°C. In summer, the car is exposed to the sun for a long time, and the temperature inside the car reaches about 50°C to 60°C, which is within the operating temperature range of the supercapacitor, so the supercapacitor is more suitable for the backup power supply of the car dash camera than the battery.
